Tan & Tan Developments Berhad
Established in 1971, Tan & Tan Developments Berhad (Tan & Tan) is one of Malaysia's most innovative and visionary developer. The company has been the recipient of The Edge's Top Property Developers Award for seven consecutive years and has been awarded the prestigious FIABCI Award of Distinction for Residential Development in the year 2002. Tan & Tan is a wholly owned subsidiary of IGB Corporation Berhad, which is listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia.
Among the many "firsts" in the list of the Group's accolades was the introduction of the condominium lifestyle in Malaysia with the development of Desa Kudalari Condominium in 1979. The development is located in the vicinity of Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.
In the 1980s, Tan & Tan also created the first hotel apartment in Malaysia with the development of Micasa Hotel Apartments and the first serviced apartment with the development of Sucasa Studio Apartments. Strategically located within the enclave of major embassies and walking distance to Suria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur, both projects offers a new dimension in luxury living for guests on short and extended stay.
Another milestone achievement was the development of Bistari Condominium built in 1992. The condominium is 40-storey high, making it the highest condominium in Malaysia at that time. The condominium is located at Jalan Putra, Kuala Lumpur and is a joint venture with PKNS (Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor).
Tan & Tan is also a pioneer of gated community development in Malaysia. In 1993, the company successfully launched Sierramas, a private community-based residential estate in a resort setting, incorporating innovative and recreational amenities. It was a joint venture with KL-Kepong Property Holdings Sdn Bhd and the development was awarded the prestigious FIABCI Award of Distinction for Residential Development in 2002. The award was presented by His Majesty Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XII Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail.
Tan & Tan launched Tara Condominium in 1993 with bungalow size units of up to 5,737 sq. ft. and standard units of 2,800 sq. ft. These were huge “bungalows-in-the-sky” with the largest built-up area for condominiums in Malaysia until recently, when competitors started following the footsteps of the company. Tara condominium is located in the distinguished diplomat enclave of Jalan U-Thant and a stone's throw away from the Selangor Polo and Riding Club in Kuala Lumpur.
Seri Maya is another success story that boasts of its strategic location just 5km away from the pulsating heart of KLCC. There are not many better located city homes that are easily accessible and with excellent amenities. It is served by two LRT (Light Rail Transit) train stations and the Kuala Lumpur-Ampang Elevated Highway together with a ready network of existing roads. The development is close to three international schools, numerous shopping malls, trendy cafes and popular restaurants.
Other milestone project is the chic and luxurious residences of Hampshire Park and Hampshire Place that offer prominence in the bustling hub of KLCC. These two projects are a joint venture with J.A. Russell & Co Sdn Bhd.
Another noteworthy project is the gated community of Sri Bukit Persekutuan located on a hillock in a secondary forest within the hustle and bustle of the city. This exquisite gated enclave offers spacious condominiums, terraces and villas. It is a joint venture with Wearne Brothers Properties (Pte) Ltd and The Straits Trading Co Ltd.
Today, Tan & Tan Developments Berhad is a diversified developer with a distinguished track record in condominiums, landed properties and gated communities, commercial and residential buildings, including hospital development when it developed the Gleneagles Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
